The Bavarian State Library is located south of the church, Louis and has about 7 million books and 40,000 periodicals is one of the largest scientific libraries in Germany. Your stock goes back to the collection of the Wittelsbach dukes in the 16th Especially the century secularization in the early 19th Century brought substantial gains from the monastic libraries. Particularly noteworthy are the incunabula, manuscripts, broadsides, music library, the Orient and the Far East Collection, an extensive collection of Eastern Europe and the large collection of maps and atlas.
Zoom seated statue was built, the State Library as the entire northern part of the Louis Street 1834-39 by the architect Friedrich von Gärtner. The long building encloses two courtyards and the palace is based on the architecture of the early Italian Renaissance. The original Greek scholar seated figures on the staircase were created by Ludwig von Schwanthaler. Due to the severe damage in the 2nd World War II, the current figures of Aristotle, Homer, Thucydides and Hippocrates recreations of various artists.
