Olympiastadion - Olympiapark
The Olympic Stadium in Olympic Park was originally designed for the athletic competitions of the XX. Summer Olympics and was built after the meistbespielte stadium in Germany. During the football season games the two Munich clubs FC Bayern Munich and TSV 1860 Munich played alternately on the 105 x 68 m large playing field. Even in winter when ice and snow could be played because the field is provided with a sub-soil heating. During the summer break in the game, the stadium for open-air concerts were used. Well-known groups such as Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson have performed here already.
Neck playing football or the concert? Only the western grandstand is covered by the tent roof in the 70,000-seater stadium spans. The original renovation plans for the Olympic Stadium, which increases the spectator seats, the stadium roof and the 400 m running track with 8 lanes should be removed, became obsolete after the Munich clubs decided in 2001 to build the Allianz Arena. Since 2005, the football games are in the outskirts of Munich Fröttmaning place.
