Bayerisches Nationalmuseum

The original National Museum was opened in 1867 and was housed in what is now the Museum of Ethnology. For reasons of space, built by Gabriel Seidl 1894-99 a multi-part construction of the Prince Regent Street. The facades of the building were decorated in various styles, each corresponding to the exhibits that might be involved. The interior received the appropriate exhibits stylish features by Rudolf Seitz. Outside the museum stands an equestrian statue of Prince Regent Luitpold, was created under whose rule the road. Seeoner MadonnaDas Bavarian National Museum, with about 18,000 exhibits from 9 centuries one of the most important museums of European Sculpture and Decorative Arts in Germany. On the ground floor are chronologically arranged collections of cultural and artistic history of Bavaria and southern Germany to see from the Middle Ages to the 19th Century work of e.g. Erasmus Grasser, Johann Baptist Straub and Ignaz Günther can be admired here. Among the highlights are the "Seeon Madonna", the Augsburg weaving room, the room with tapestries and wooden models of the Bavarian city of residence cities in the 16th Century Model of the city Munich (possibly from postcards upstairs to show specialized collections, such as the porcelain collection with exhibits from Meissen, Nymphenburg, and many smaller manufacturers, Baroque oil sketches of the collection Reuschel, ivory carvings, stained glass and gold and silver work, inlaid, textiles, watches and scientific instruments . the basement presents folk art and one of the largest crib collection. cribs from Bavaria, Tyrol, Moravia, Naples, Sicily and Provence to the 17th to the 19th century there to be admired.
