Staatliche Antikensmmlung

Opposite the Glyptothek at the Royal Palace Georg Friedrich Ziebland built in the years 1838-48, the late-classical building, which now houses the Museum of Antiquities collection housed. Originally, the building is an art and industrial exhibition was set up. Later it served as home of the Munich Secession and 1919-39 as the "New State Gallery". Zoom GiebelIm gable Bavaria can be seen as a protector of the arts mad by Thaler (1830). The facade is accented by a center portico on a high flight of steps, consisting of eight Corinthian columns. The collection includes an outstanding collection of vases from the Mycenaean era to the late Greek period and small sculptures in bronze, ceramic and terracotta, gold jewelery and glass.
