Ludwigstraße

King Ludwig I had the 1 km long road called "Via triumphalis" by his architect Leo von Klenze beginning of the 19th Century design. It was after the second monumental Briennerstraße street in Munich beginning at Odeonsplatz. Ludwigkirchplatz Eder southern section is characterized by Theresienstraße palaces of the Italian style of the Renaissance and was exclusively designed by Leo von Klenze. Because of him, but progress was slow, called King Ludwig I in 1827 the architect Friedrich von Gärtner in Munich, to be built on the road. This was based on the Italian Renaissance palace architecture of the early but held to the basic concept of Klenze wide fronted buildings. A particularly fine example of this is the Bavarian State Library, one of the largest libraries. Immediately thereafter, followed by the built-in romantic Byzantine shapes Louis Church. University with a fountain davorAn the Ludwig-Maximilian Universität, the road widens into a kind of forum with the Professor-Huber-Platz on the right side and the Scholl-Platz on the left. The squares are named after the founders of the resistance group White Rose, in the Nazi era pamphlets against the Hitler regime, distributed, what they were executed in 1943. The northern end of the Ludwig Strasse is the winning goal, the counterpart to the general hall. Metro: Odeon Platz (U3 - U6), University (U3, U6)
