Olympiapark München
The upper Wiesenfeld, originally as a training ground and from 1925 - 39 served as a commercial airport, was the occasion of the XX. 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich turned into a nearly 3 sq km sports and recreation facility. They also provided a 86,000 m² large artificial lake with outdoor stage, which is often used for organizing pop concerts. In addition to the Olympic Tower Olympic Tower is the ice stadium is the only building that was erected before the Olympics. The unique tent roof structure comprises the three main venues: the Olympic swimming pool, "one of the largest and most beautiful garden, indoor swimming pools in Europe", the Olympic Stadium, and conceived as a multipurpose hall Olympiahalle. The construction of the 75,000 square meter tent roof consists of a steel grid with translucent acrylic panels, which is suspended in 12 large and 36 smaller towers. Supposedly, the architects were inspired by the design of the roof of the Alps, silhouette, which is from the Olympic Tower to see in fine weather. On the western boundary of the site is the former Olympic bike station, which opened in 1999 as the Olympic Spirit Center and is the world's first interactive experience centers around the Olympic sports.
SeebühneDas Olympic Village extends north of the central ring. Most of the former accommodation of the male players were now being sold as condominiums. In the low buildings of the contestants has a population of students. Between the two areas, two in German and Hebrew signs point to the assassination of Arab terrorists out on 05.09.1972, to which 11 Israelis and one German police officer was killed.
Unlike other Olympic sites, the Munich plant is still actively used for sports and cultural events.

In preparation for the 1972 Olympic Games, a former airfield and parade ground were transformed into an Olympic park. The park features landscaped hills, an artificial lake, a communications tower, and sports facilities. Designed by the firm of Behnisch & Partners, the elegant, airy ensemble derives its character chiefly from the transparent tensile roof designed by Frei Otto. Tent-shaped, it covers part of the stadium, the hall, and the pool, and is considered a masterpiece of modern architecture.
